Welcome to the East Midlands Construction Cove (EMCON)
EMCON aims to improve construction skills training and tackle acute skills shortages in the region. Officially launched in October 2004, EMCON is a sub-regional partnership of four colleges – New College Nottingham (ncn), Derby College, South East Derbyshire College, and West Nottinghamshire College – and the Learning Skills Councils for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
The East Midlands is currently experiencing the fastest and largest growth in construction projects outside Greater London and has serious construction trade skills shortages, presenting a real need for increased and improved training for skilled craftspeople.
EMCON aims to develop and share its excellence in the delivery of innovative programmes focused on gas, plumbing and electrical provision to meet the needs of employers in the region. Through the partnership, EMCON will also work with neighbouring colleges, training providers, universities, employer forums and action groups to enhance the range and quality of provision in the East Midlands.
